This list of the 253 species of birds which have been observed in Barber County, Kansas, was compiled from records of the Kansas Ornithological Society,
Kansas Breeding Bird Atlas Project, and the Kansas Biological Survey,
and annual Christmas Bird Counts. August 18, 2007
The taxonomic sequence and nomenclature used in this list follow the Checklist of North American Birds, 7th edition, American Ornithologists Union, 1998, updated through the 48th Supplement, 2007, (Auk 124(3):1109-1115).
While, of course, there is no guarantee that visitors to the Oak Creek Ranch will see any or all of these birds, this list includes the species of birds which are known to be present in Barber County and which visitors to the ranch MAY observe.
